Ford Explorer ST Catch Cans

Ford Explorer ST Catch Cans

We designed our Explorer ST catch can for the ST's 3.0L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6, not the smaller turbo-four in every other Explorer trim. Every UPR catch can that Explorer ST owners install comes in a single-valve or dual-valve configuration, matched to how hard you drive the SUV. CNC-machined billet aluminum, Continental braided hose, and Plug N Play fittings connect straight to the factory PCV ports, and installation takes 10 to 20 minutes with no drilling. The Explorer ST Runs the Raptor's Engine in a Family SUV

Every other Explorer trim runs a 2.3L EcoBoost turbo four-cylinder, but the ST trades that engine for a 3.0L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6, the same engine family that powers the Ranger Raptor and Bronco Raptor. That swap means an Explorer ST catch can has to handle the same elevated crankcase pressure those trucks deal with, even though the ST spends most of its life as a three-row family SUV rather than a truck built for boost all day. Twin-turbo pressure pushes more oil vapor through the PCV system than the base engine's smaller turbo ever produces, and that vapor heads straight for the intake tract without something in the way.

We build different Plug N Play kits for various generations, so you can find a 2025 Ford Explorer ST oil catch can. Our popular oil catch can kits page shows how the ST's setup compares to the rest of what we build for Ford's turbocharged lineup.

Why Choose a UPR Catch Can for an Explorer ST

A universal catch can designed for a generic V6 doesn't account for the way the Explorer ST's PCV lines route around its AWD hardware and cooling components, so the fitment ends up looser than it should be. All UPR catch cans for the Explorer ST start with the ST's factory PCV routing for its specific model year, not a generic kit stretched to reach the right ports.

Our single-valve kit mounts on the dirty side of the PCV line for standard driving, and our dual-valve kit, with an enhanced clean-side separator (ECSS), pulls vapor from both sides of the system for owners running more boost. Both share the CNC-machined billet aluminum can and 4-stage diffuser found across our oil catch can lineup, connected with OEM-style Plug N Play fittings instead of clamps that can loosen over time. That precision is the difference between a catch can that matches your ST's specific fitment and one that was just adapted to reach it.

Your ST's Twin Turbos Deserve Cleaner Air

Every time your Explorer ST's twin turbos spool up, crankcase vapor moves back through the PCV system and toward the intake tract right along with the boost. Our Explorer ST catch can traps vapor before it reaches your intake valves, so carbon buildup stops in the first place. Shop the single-valve or dual-valve kit built for your model year and give your 3.0L EcoBoost the clean air it's designed to run on.

Frequently Asked Questions About Explorer ST Catch Cans

Does the base Explorer with the 2.3L EcoBoost need this catch can?

The base Explorer's 2.3L EcoBoost turbo four-cylinder uses a different PCV routing than the ST's 3.0L twin-turbo V6, so this kit is built and sized specifically for the ST rather than for every Explorer trim on the lot.

Will adding a catch can affect my Explorer ST's all-wheel drive or towing capability?

The catch can mounts in the engine bay and connects through the existing PCV ports, so it doesn't touch the AWD system, the transfer case, or any towing hardware underneath the SUV.

Do I need the dual-valve ECSS kit if I've tuned my Explorer ST?

If your tune adds boost beyond the factory calibration, crankcase pressure rises along with it. The dual-valve kit with the enhanced clean-side separator pulls vapor from both sides of the PCV system to better handle the added pressure.
